About ECIEC 43, June 2024

The 43rd “East Coast Indo-European Conference” (ECIEC), took place in Athens, Georgia in July 2024 at the University of Georgia, hosted by Prof. Jared S. Klein (Department of Linguistics and Department of Classics).

“I first attended the “East Coast Indo-European Conference” (ECIEC) in July 2024 and immensely enjoyed the stay in Athens, Georgia and the participation in the conference, where I had the opportunity to give a talk on the etymology of the Albanian word dash ‘ram’. I found all talks of the conference extremely interesting and thoroughly stimulating — they covered almost every aspect of Indo-European studies, from Celtic inscriptions to Ossetic nominal endings, and from Indo-European word-formation to Tocharian etymology. All participants were very kind and happy to discuss the most disparate topics in Indo-European studies with me. Most memorable of all was the evening party at Prof. Klein’s home on the last day of the conference, where everyone enjoyed wonderful food and stimulating discussions.
I am thrilled to again take part in ECIEC — in its 44th iteration — next July, and am honored that it will be hosted by the Institute of Comparative and Indo-European Linguistics at the LMU Munich!”
