Tocharian Philology and features of Tocharian Buddhism

Abstract:
This talk tries to update the explanation of several Tocharian words and passages based on comparative philological work (part I) and elucidate the Indo-Iranian features of Tocharian Buddhist terms (part II).
The existence of two types of Buddhist vocabulary in Tocharian will be briefly introduced. Given the Gandharo-Khotanese features of Tocharian Buddhist vocabulary, new thoughts on the name “Tocharian” will be suggested.
